It was expected that the judges would politely applaud, thank her and move on to the obvious favorite. It hadn't taken long to discover the pageant was rigged and now the contestants were upset, the audience was getting agitated and the moms... They were out for blood.
"Sorry, I won't be playing Fur Elise for you guys today after all," Contestant #8 muttered defiantly behind a painted on smile as she stepped up to the microphone.
From a hidden compartment of the cello's case she extracted a kazoo and began to play a surprisingly good rendition of Twista's "Overnight Celebrity".
Any pageant contestants (or winners) reading today? I've never entered one but I've watched a few episodes of "Toddlers and Tiaras". I imagine Contestant #8 being much older but still a kid. The story is short so there's room to stretch your imagination and wonder what else might have happened. Would the judges complain about the unexpected song change? Would the moms start a riot? Would #8's surprising song choice win her the pageant? I have no clue and I'm fine with that.
Ready for those random words? For today's story they were...
"Discover" and "applaud".
Peace ☮️.
