Happy Wednesday guys, I wish that all of you are healthy and well.
Today I want to show you a little bit of my garden project. The land actually belong to my father, and up until recently when he decided to build a barn and a place to sun dry the paddy grain, this land is mostly abandon, with so many big trees, and not performing salacca plantation.
So when he started to build the barn, he cut down several trees. Random trees to palm trees that grew and block the sun rays. They need to be gone before my father can have a place to sun dry the grain.
It took me and him several days to clear the remaining stuff in the past, once the needed area for the drying process was ready, then everything come for a halt for a few month. haha I have a few things going on that took my time and focus, and now I will restart clearing the area and start my garden project.
Here one corner of the land that has been cleared, you can see now some o the wild cover plants are already taking the area back. I just left them like that to keep the moisture a little bit at these hot days.
Here the other corner of the area that I cleared recently. There are so many things that I still need to take care of here. But with only an hour or two that I can spend on each visit to the area, this much progress is still a good one for me.
Another look of the area from a different angel. From this point of view you can see that the land is on a slope, which we also need to consider, and anticipate during the rainy season.
Double palm tree stump that sit in the middle of the entrance. It was so difficult to get rid of in the past after it was cut down. Now since it has been wear out by the element, maybe we can clear them on the next try.
Some of the trees and palm trees that are still around, I think I will keep this one at the moment, since I don't really have any plan for this area. Its kind of a deep slope so it is better to keep them alive to keep the soil from eroding.
This is the cleared area which is used to sun dry the paddy grain. It is leveled a little bit, and you can also see the kind of soil that we have in the area. It was a little bit sandy, something that I also need to reconsider in the future for the garden project.
Why I have a big hope for the place? It is because it seems that the soil is fertile. You can see the chilli plant that grow wildly below. It grow nicely despite the sandy soil and the harsh and hot season now. it is not withered, which indicates that this guy managed to get the neeed water in the soil. And with a little help from drip irigatiion in the future, I think we can better mitigate the soil and the water needs for the plant.
it surely will be a long journey, but I wish that his project will work nicely before I can move and execute my other idea that I have in mind. So wish me luck. ;)
