"God has given you one face, and you make yourself another; the battle between these two halves of identity, who we are and who we pretend to be is unwinnable."- Hamlet.

In a world where there is so much pursuit for self discovery (most of which is driven by peer pressure), we tend to live our life in a face we created to suit what we think we should be seen in or known as.

God gave you a face and then you go right on to make yourself another and then, you get tied in a battle with self, not just self, but with another part of yourself that isn't what you should have.

Blessed!

This song just kinda fits into this article and I thought to share (funny thing is, my children are actually watching Despicable Me 3 and I just got inspired to do this piece).
We tend to crave the identity that isn't ours; is this because we do not feel comfortable in our own God given identity?

You cannot pretend to be something you are not for long. You can make it work for a while and then, it will all just go poof. The face that is yours is what you should lead with but because we tend to want to be seen for what we think we should be seen so we fit in, we loose our originality and hold on to that which cannot be sustained.

The battle is usually first with ourselves and not with the things that comes from outside because, we already have something that isn't ours riding alongside what is and as you know, what isn't yours has a way of taking first place in our lives.

Who you are is what matters and it counts for everything. Who you pretend to be is unwinnable and like a deranged bull seeing red from afar, it gallops down the road crushing anything that stands on its way.

Try to be prepared for the journey ahead and not minding if the road is paved with thorns or not, you should be ready to see the blood and sweat as the grease on your wheels as against the disadvantage.

Make the world a better place for someone today!
