Hello, everyone! π
Continuing my Poker tutorials, today I'll talk about Stack Pot Ratio (SPR) and its importance.
So, how do we calculate SPR? It is simple:
- SPR = Effective Stack/Pot
For instance:
- Pot: 1000 chips
- Villain (Opponent) Stack: 2000 chips
- You (Hero): 3000 chips
Therefore, SPR = 2000/1000 = 2
How can we use this information in game? We are going to play more or less aggressive according to the SPR.
SPR < 2.2 or below (around 15 BB) we can go all in with our draws or with 2nd pair+ (or better).
SPR between 2.3 and 4 (16-30 BB) we can still keep the aggressive play with Check/Raise or even Reraise, but only with really strong draws like flushdraws, open ended straightdraw and Top pair with good kicker.
SPR >= 4 (30 BB+) we can play more passive with our strong draws, since the pot represents only a small portion of our stack.
How do you choose a bet size on turn so you don't need to overshove river?
Bet Size = (Effective stack - Size of the Pot)/3
Important: use this bet size formula with value and bluff, making it harder for the villain to call on the River.
QUIZ
Let's see if you understood this lesson with a question.
