I recently went to a literature event. Just before heading out, I decided to trim my mustache since it was a bit unruly. I messed up one side with the shaver, so I ended up shaving the whole thing off, and instantly looked a few years younger.
Hace poco fui a un evento sobre literatura. Justo antes de salir para el evento, se me ocurrió limpiarme un poco el bigote porque lo tenía descuidado, así que usé la máquina para ello y corté mal uno de los lados. Así que decidí afeitarme el bigote completo y quedé con menos años de edad.
During a discussion panel at the event, I intervened and mentioned that the book I was reading was a kind of tribute to the Venezuelan 80s and 90s. The moderator was surprised because she thought I hadn't even been born then, which gave us all a good laugh because I was born in '93, making me 32 years old, but she thought I was much younger.
Justo una parte del evento tenía que ver con un conversatorio e intervine y mencioné que el libro que estaba leyendo es una especie de tributo a los 80s y 90s venezolanos. A la que dirigía la dinámica le sorprendió porque creía que yo ni había nacido en ese momento, cosa que nos dio mucha risa porque yo nací en el 93, por lo que tengo 32 años, pero la persona que me lo dijo creía que yo tenía mucho menos.
These newlyweds make me think of that because both of them have very youthful appearances. It's something that, like me, surely happens to them all the time – people confuse their age for being much younger.
Estos novios me hacen pensar en eso porque tienen ambos apariencias muy joviales, y es algo que, como a mí, seguro les ocurre muchísimo: que confunden su edad con una menor.
