After destroying the oil pump I got five Griffa Tokens. These tokens are used to upgrade Max's physical abilities. You cannot upgrade these abilities with money or Scrap only Griffa Tokens. You can get these tokens by completing different big challenges in the game. Since destroying the oil pump was a big challenge I got five tokens from it.
But I cannot use these tokens from the menu. I need to find Griffa first. Do you remember that mysterious man I talked about at the beginning of the game? Yes that man is Griffa. I actually saw him at the oil pump. But after some time he suddenly disappeared. Before leaving he told me to meet him on a high mountain. So I leave the oil pump and go to that mountain. When I reach there I see Griffa was waiting for me. He knows many things about Max that I did not know before. Then he says some strange words and blows something towards me.
After that I get the option to upgrade Max's abilities. Each token used to upgrade one part of an ability. There were many abilities but I cannot upgrade everything at this moment. So I chose some that I think will be useful. I upgrade Longevity. This will increase Max's health. Then I upgrade Volition. This will help me get more Scrap from enemy bodies. After that Adaptation which will help the car use less fuel. Then Munition. This will help me get more ammunition from loot.
After finishing the upgrades I come down from the mountain. But My car and Chumbucket was not there. Then I remember If I need my car anywhere I can use a flare and he will bring the car to me. So I use the flare and after some time Chumbucket comes with my car. Very useful thing. Now we have enough Scrap to add a Nitro Boost to the car. So I quickly use 136 Scrap and add the Nitro Boost. But I want to see what this Nitro can really do.
While driving on the road I see two Scavenger cars. They were moving around the area. I use my Nitro Boost and hit one of their cars with full power. The car breaks apart. It was really fun. Then I do the same thing with the second car. I use the Nitro again and hit it hard. The second car gets destroyed. Now I have a new weapon type upgrade for my car and I really like it. I fight some more Scavengers around the area. I collect a good amount of Scrap from them.
Now it is time for another big upgrade. I want to put a new engine in my car. I was thinking about getting a V8 engine. I return to Chumbucket's hideout where I can upgrade my car. But there is one problem. Chumbucket does not have a V8 engine. He tells me the only V8 engine he knows about is in Gastown. So now I need to prepare for a journey to Gastown. But before we can leave, a group of Scavengers attacks Chumbucket's hideout. They start throwing Molotovs and explosives from every side. The whole hideout catches fire.
We have no choice. I quickly take my car and leave the hideout. When I look back I see many Scavengers still attacking the place. They keep throwing explosives and Molotovs inside. The whole place was burning. Chumbucket was very upset to see his workshop getting destroyed like this. He worked hard on this place and now everything is gone. Now we need to find a new hideout and continue our journey.
