How Useful Are Tokenized Stocks When Regular Markets Close

Have you ever wondered if tokenized stocks actually tell us anything useful while regular stock markets are closed? It's tempting to think they show where real stock prices will open next. I came across a study that looks at whether these off-hours tokens give fresh clues or just repeat old news.

The researchers created a protocol called NEST to filter out mechanical overlap and see if off-hours token prices add real value. They analyzed MSTRx, a token tracking MicroStrategy, and found that a high raw score of 0.916 dropped sharply once they controlled for Bitcoin, mark age and premarket proxy data. Under those controls, the token explained 15.7% of the remaining opening gap variation, with other test setups showing between 14.0% and 17.0%. Trade level data on Gate reached 25.2%, while tokens like NVDAX and AAPLX passed the team's criteria but TSLAX didn't. In the end, approved token marks help update exposure tracking across Bitcoin, treasury stocks and leveraged products rather than totally replacing standard measurements.

Curious about the details? Look up NEST: Stale-Robust Tokenized-Stock Measurement for a Crypto-Treasury LETF Stack at arxiv.org/abs/2610.21491. The authors are Doohwi Cha, Minsuk Sung and Minjae Lee, with several coauthors.
