When we read the list of the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT in Galatians 5:22-23 we see it as a "job description."
But it's really a "list of benefits" that the HOLY SPIRIT makes available to us.
馃崕LOVE - an unselfish concern for others.
馃崘JOY - inner excitement about what GOD has done, will do, or is going to do.
馃崚PEACE - an inward calm that does not depend on outward circumstances.
馃崌PATIENCE - the ability to deal wisely in difficult situations & with difficult people.
馃崓KINDNESS - a giving spirit that reflects GOD's heart towards us.
馃崗GOODNESS - having a positive disposition & a willingness to be a benefit to others.
馃崑FAITHFULNESS - Making & sticking to our commitments.
馃崏GENTLENESS - a mild tempered approach to life.
馃崜SELF-CONTROL - the ability to avoid and/or resist sin (or low level living).
(These are just my ballpark definitions based on the original Greek words. Remember, the Spirit PRODUCES these fruit, not you.)
