At age 23, he dedicated himself to ensuring poor Nigerians were able to obtain quality medical care. As chairperson and then national deputy of the Nigerian Medical Association's Lagos branch, one of his main concerns was to see to it hospitals had the drugs they needed. In later years, Ransome-kuti established the campaign for Democracy, his country's first human rights organization.

How was Dr. Beko Ransome-Kuti empathetic?
Dr. Beko Ransome-Kuti spent his entire life demonstrating empathy towards others. As a young man, he worked to convince his fellow doctors that quality medical care was every Nigerian's right. Near the end of his life he organized the Center for Constitutional Governance to aid Nigerians in holding their government accountable for their actions.

Practice being empathetic.
In what ways can you, too, display empathy towards those around you? Keep in mind empathy does not always have to be expressed in large ways. Small acts of kindness shown on a daily basis can certainly bring joy to others as well.
