I am not sure how soon it will increase your earning capacity but there is no stopping you from success once you start.

Somehow, knowing a lot about finance is a good thing, but deeply understanding it is what I will need so that I will be able to spot opportunities that such knowledge come in handy and then improves my earning capacity
