The mind of a child sees a salary and thinks of what they could do with that money. The mind of the adult forms once they realize that most of that money is getting taken from you before you have a chance to spend it.

I agree. As children, once we see the money we will be running up and down about the things we want to buy. But as an adult, you will see that the money earned soon goes into the hands of another.

It was after this realization that I read "The richest man in Babylon" by Samuel Clason and the man pointed out that in our world, we pay everyone else but ourselves.

so he came up with a measure that we pay ourselves 10% of all that we earn before we pay the rest of the world from the 90%.

I had tried this once, and I was shocked at how I was able to live without the 10% and once it amounted to something tangible, I invested it, and it fetched me more money.

Regardless, it seems like a good financial move. You pay rent every month and get a decent percentage back each month in the form of equity. It beats paying the landlord's mortgage.

Well, inside the same book, he mentioned the house part. And he encouraged anyone who is aiming for financial freedom to save up and get their own household.

His reasons cut across having to end paying other people, but it also included an exciting part, and that was where he mentioned that owning your own house means your wife will have enough space to garden and plant foods that the house can use, and your children and grandchildren will have where to play freely

I am sorry about your house that you had to leave behind but I am grateful you found a woman who helped you through it all. Soon you will have your debt all behind, and then you will consider whether you should do the mortgage stuff again or not.
