He tenido algunos días difíciles, he estado con algo de malestar general, con dolor de articulaciones. Quizás me resfrié, quizás tantas cosas en la cabeza me hagan sentir así. No lo sé, quizás. Para esos momentos suelo acudir a varias cosas que suelen ayudarme a recuperar el ánimo y la fuerza. Son varias cosas que podría hacer, alguna de ellas como dormir, tocar la guitarra, ver películas o simplemente, un buen clásico de los 90. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una experiencia gamer y como siempre, con ciertos toques nostálgicos.
I've had a few tough days; I've been feeling a bit under the weather, with joint pain. Maybe I caught a cold; maybe having so much on my mind is making me feel this way. I don’t know maybe. In moments like these, I usually turn to a few things that tend to help me regain my spirits and strength. There are several things I could do, such as sleeping, playing the guitar, watching movies, or simply enjoying a good ’90s classic. Today I want to share a gaming experience with you and, as always, with a touch of nostalgia.
¿Recuerdan que mi hermano me pasó recientemente un emulador? Bueno, el mismo por supuesto que está lleno de joyas antiguas e indagando la lista de dichos juegos me topé con uno que, sorpresivamente, jamás había jugado en su momento: Batman Returns para la Super Nintendo (SNES). Creo que pocas veces lo he mencionado pero Batman es y será siendo mi super favorito. No sé si sea porque me trae recuerdos de niño acompañando a mi papá justamente a ver esta película. Tenia 8 años y esta fue la primera de muchas películas que vi no solo con mi papá, si no, del mismo Batman.
Do you remember that my brother recently gave me an emulator? Well, that same one, of course, is full of old gems, and while browsing through the list of games, I came across one that, surprisingly, I had never played back in the day: Batman Returns for the Super Nintendo (SNES). I don’t think I’ve mentioned it very often, but Batman is and always will be my absolute favorite. I don’t know if it’s because it brings back memories of when I was a kid and went with my dad to see this very movie. I was 8 years old, and this was the first of many movies I saw—not just with my dad, but featuring Batman himself.
Como todo fanático de los retro juegos y la vida de los 90 no pude resistirme a jugarlo y por ende, encontrar la tranquilidad que buscaba y bueno, aun a pesar del resultado del gameplay, estoy conforme pues de mi parte seguiré jugándolo y de seguro investigaré como vencer a ese payaso ja ja. La película de Tim Burton siempre me pareció una obra de arte visual así que tuve la curiosidad por ver como lograron adaptar esa atmósfera oscura al formato de 16 bits y tampoco me desilusionó.
As a huge fan of retro games and ’90s culture, I couldn’t resist playing it and in doing so, I found the peace of mind I was looking for. And well, even despite the outcome of the gameplay, I’m satisfied because, as far as I’m concerned, I’ll keep playing it, and I’ll definitely figure out how to beat that clown, haha. I’ve always thought of Tim Burton’s movie as a visual masterpiece, so I was curious to see how they managed to adapt that dark atmosphere to the 16-bit format and I wasn’t disappointed.
Desde que arrancas el juego te atrapa y sin duda Konami hizo un trabajo excepcional capturando la esencia de la película y eso que no pude superar el primer nivel ja ja ja… Visualmente tiene buenos gráficos para la época. Batman y los enemigos son enormes, detallados y tienen una animación super fluidas y esa adaptación oscura de Gotham realmente te hacen sentir dentro del filme. Otra de las cosas que me dejó boca abierta fue encontrarme con la música de la misma banda sonora de la película pero adaptada al sonido de la SNES. La verdad que es una delicia. Por otro lado, los efectos de los golpes tienen una fuerza increíble.
From the moment you start the game, it hooks you, and Konami definitely did an exceptional job capturing the essence of the movie even though I couldn’t get past the first level, ha ha ha… Visually, the graphics are great for the time. Batman and the enemies are huge, detailed, and have super-smooth animations, and that dark take on Gotham really makes you feel like you’re inside the movie. Another thing that blew me away was hearing the music from the movie’s original soundtrack, adapted for the SNES. It’s truly a delight. Plus, the impact effects pack an incredible punch.
La verdad es que la mecánica de combate para mí ya que jugué desde el teclado de mi pc no fue tan satisfactoria, pero no tiene nada de complicación. Básicamente los mismo que podemos encontrar en un clásico juego de 2D así que sinceramente no sé cómo no lo jugué antes lo que sí, es que en la época del SNES jugué a muchísimos títulos, pero este se me pasó completamente por debajo del radar. Definitivamente le debo un agradecimiento a mi hermano por recomendarme revisar este catálogo. Me dejó con ganas de seguir desempolvando otros clásicos que haya dejado pendientes en el camino.
The truth is that the combat mechanics weren't all that satisfying for me since I played using my PC keyboard, but there's nothing complicated about them. They’re basically the same as what you’d find in a classic 2D game, so honestly, I don’t know why I didn’t play it sooner. The thing is, back in the SNES days, I played tons of games, but this one completely slipped under my radar. I definitely owe my brother a big thank you for recommending that I check out this catalog. It’s left me wanting to keep dusting off other classics that I’ve left unplayed along the way.
