Just wanted to get a blog going on the pros and cons of advertising on steemit. Wouldn't it make sense to include a column on the right side of the Steemit website for advertisers to include advertising and other information, similar to Reddit?
The whole idea after all is to monetize the content on the Steemit site. Seems to me that advertising is a big part of that. Also when done discreetly could provide helpful information to the Steemit community. I think Reddit over does it. But, if there were one discrete add to the right every time folks clicked on content, this could provide an additional revenue source and add additional value to content.
What to do with the ad revenue? The add revenue could be distributed proportional to SP holders. Another novel idea being used by ICN is to use the add revenue to burn a portion of the the tokens, in this case, STEEM, thereby reducing the inflation rate, and making STEEM more valuable. Also perhaps an ability to benefit from a revenue stream should be incorporated as a feature of the new SMT tokens.
Just think this is a really important part of monetizing content. Great content should attract advertisers, and our great Steemiters should benefit when posting their valuable content.
