I was standing on the center of the road, looking down to rest of the world. It was pitch dark and I could n o t see it. But I didn't want to see it.
I heard few steps behind me and turned back to check. I saw her there, walking towards me.
"What are you doing, Aryan?" Suraya asked.
She was in her night wear, only. She lived with her parents, and I had joined their family about 7 months back. Those nights were cold for her. She always wrapped a scarf around her head and chest. But she did not wore anything beneath that.
I told her, "Why would I be doing something indeed? You know for your parents' safety. They don't want to see you going out in night."
"Yes, I am following you back now." she said gently, while looking at me with her beautiful moon shaped face.
"Forgive me my darling sister, if I haven't told you this in rest of my night. I love you very much. You are the only one sister I have. I want you stay with me always." I said, while grabbing her hands.
"I love you too, Aryan." she replied.
She didn't use to say anything about her feelings towards me earlier. She was always shy about expressing them. But sometimes, she was very candid. That was her real nature. And I loved her.
"Why don't we go in for a walk? It's still early." I said.
"Don't you think this is too early?" She said, "I need to freshen up before leaving of the room, you know."
"No, you don't have to go in for that. Come with me instead." I insisted.
"No, you will get cold and lonely." she said.
"But I don't want you to go anywhere alone. Please come with me." I pleaded
She had a fear for dark. I understood it. She was scared that she would got stuck in it, or that something would happen to her there. I knew it was her nature to be scared but I always helped her over there. I have never complained about that. I never asked her to leave the house in night.
"I will be fine. Don't you worry about it, Aryan." she said.
"But you are scared. I don't want to feel that lonely ever. Have faith in me. I had faith in you, Suraya. I always look out for you. I want you always beside me. And I have known how important you are to me." I said.
"Aryan, I am not scared of anything. I am fine and I think I will manage. Don't worry about my safety." she replied
We were out of the house. It was still dark, and I knew I will get caught. I reached for her hand and pulled it to me.
"Aryan, let's go back. There is no need to do anything here. Come back in the house." she said
"All right, I will come inside. But only if you say me that you won't leave me." I said
"How can I say that to you? You know how much I like to be with you?" she said
"So, I will come with you everywhere you are going." I said
"No, don't do that. It is too important for you. I can go by myself as I have done it before." she said with a smile, "I know you feel shy of being seen alone with me. But it's okay. We are siblings. People have no judgement on us, they just think us as siblings."
"It does not matter to me what people say about us. I don't care about them. What matters to me is the one who has always been with me. But I like our situation here. I mean, we belong to a family here. We are not lone, and we have been together. So, come with us whenever we go on for a walk, Suraya. We will be fine, and I will make sure no one will think of anything bad about us." I said
She smiled and said, "Okay, you are right. I will be with you. If she comes here, I will tell the mother that we had gone for a walk. I did not say a word about that. I really want to spend time with you. I can't do anything without you." she said and pulled my hand to her face.
