Hello my friends, today I want to talk to you about something very special for me and that I know will mark a great memory in my life as a mother for the rest of my days.
Today, December 9th, I am celebrating exactly 40 days since I became a mom again, and the so-called quarantine or puerperium is like that most intimate moment we have with our baby and all the physical changes we go through after the birth, which in my case was a cesarean section.
Beyond that, I would like to comment on what the Bible says about it:
12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, "When a woman gives birth and bears a male child, she shall be unclean for seven days; as in the days of her menstruation, she shall be unclean. 3 On the eighth day the flesh of the foreskin of the child shall be circumcised. 4 And she shall remain in the blood of her purification for thirty-three days; she shall not touch any consecrated thing or enter the sanctuary until the days of her purification are fulfilled. 5 But if she bear a female child, she shall be unclean for two weeks, as in the days of her menses; and she shall remain in the blood of her purification for sixty-six days. Leviticus 12 "The Bible of the Americas."

So we can say that keeping the quarantine more than the care that we must take physically for the process of giving birth, wound care and everything else is something more spiritual than having this process of "purification".
Now there are things that in my case since my first birth my mother and my grandmother always made mention regarding some care both for me and for my baby and with my three births I took them into consideration being or not entirely real, I believe that culturally in other countries will have other beliefs about it:

  • Do not go out at night, my mother used to say do not go out after 7 p.m. because it gets dark and it is bad for the baby, it even changes the color of the pupus.
  • Don't let people come to visit you at night and want to raise the baby, it's the same as if you go out and you get sleepy.
  • Don't let a woman who is having her menstrual period pick up the baby, because it can cause the baby to push.
  • Don't put yellow clothes on the baby for the first few days because it turns yellow (jaundice).
  • Do not let people who are suffocated heal the baby's navel, with menstruation or come from cooking the navel can fester and it will take a long time for the klan to fall off, it is better to do it yourself as a mother (as Dr. Arch Pediatr Urug PEDIATRIC HISTORIES 2009 said "The entrance door of the evil is almost always the scar of the umbilical cord")
  • Do not put mittens or socks on unless it is very cold.
  • Don't let her cry too much before her belly button heals, it can burst.

Finally during the quarantine take care of your baby yourself, if there is someone with you, try to take care of him/her yourself and have the person help you with the things around the house.

We see then that there are so many things to take into consideration during quarantine, both for us as mothers and for our baby.

I know that many mothers around the world have other rituals or call them so with respect to quarantine, but the most important of all this is; take care of our babies and take care of us as much as we can because our babies need us healthy and strong.
