Yes I definitely did not explain it enough.

  • The conversion gives you half of what you put in, instantly, as HBD.
  • This is a loan.
    • To be paid back in 3.5 days.
  • All the Hive is held as collateral in case Hive price drops.
  • In 3.5 days enough Hive is sold off to pay for the HBD you borrowed.
    • The rest is returned to you at that time (minus 5% fee).

The way to get around only converting half of your Hive into HBD?
Dump the HBD that was given to you back into Hive and do another conversion.

Example:

  • Convert 1000 Hive into 500 Hive's worth of HBD.
    • Dump HBD back into 500+ Hive
  • Convert 500+ Hive into 250+ Hive's worth of HBD.
    • Dump HBD back into 250+ Hive.
  • Convert 250+ Hive into 125_+ Hive's worth of HBD.

If HBD has broken the peg hard enough, 1000 hive can be converted into 1000 Hive's worth of HBD with three nested loops. In fact it would only take a single loop if HBD was valued at $2 during the conversion/dump. Hope this makes sense. Ask more questions if I need to flush it out.
