There’s a trend on steemit at the moment where people seem to vote more on their own posts than other people’s.
Let’s reverse the trend!
I try to upvote and comment on at least 5 good photography posts per day (and whatever else catches my interest).
So I would like to propose the following:
- upvote and comment 5 posts per day with full strength
- Try to find 5 post per day from steemians you haven’t followed before
- Never upvote your own posts.
- Trust that good people will find you, if you find them. And get the curation reward instead. If everyone did it this way, then the curation rewards would be much better distributed.
I can’t say I do these things everyday, but this is my aim. I’ve never self voted, and I still have a really big belief in Steemit as a platform.
And I say this with all the positive energy I can muster: Steemit ONLY has a future if people start finding genuinely good posts and they become easier to find in general.
I know hard fork 20 will change the self voting rewards a bit, but I’m afraid it’s still far from enough.
It’s hard to find any non-self voters on the trending page, but I hope things like this initiative can help change that. The trending and hot pages should be about good posts, and in my opinion self voting should never count towards getting on those pages.
Even if the rewards wouldn’t change, then this should change in the search algorithm. The self voters could then be left with the money and at least the rest of us can find great posts more easily.
So what do you think, is it naive?
Btw, this is me looking at people creating amazing films with old Russian anamorphic lenses. These are the kind of people I've already found and hoping to find a lot more of on Steemit.
