DIY: Tricycle shaped candy container. [ENG+ESP]

The love tricycle has arrived loaded with candies for all the friends of the community.

Today I will share with you a tutorial in which I will show you how I created a small ornament with which I will participate in this month's contest. This contest has a beautiful theme that pays tribute to such an important date as February 14. For these dates we almost always leave for last the presents or simply we are overwhelmed, because you do not know what to give and that is why I created this ornament.

My love tricycle is very versatile in terms of the uses that can be given to it, since it not only serves as a container for candy, but also as a vase or organizer. So do not miss the opportunity to create one for yourself or to give as a gift, since you would not only be making someone else happy, but you would also be contributing to the care of the environment. As I show you below, many of the materials used in this craft are recycled materials.

El triciclo del amor ha llegado cargado de caramelos para todos los amigos de la comunidad.

Hoy les compartiré un tutorial en el cual les mostraré cómo creé un pequeño adorno con el que voy a participar en el concurso de este mes. Este concurso tiene un hermoso tema que rinde homenaje a una fecha tan importante como el 14 de febrero. Por estas fechas casi siempre solemos dejar para último los presentes o simplemente nos vemos abrumados, pues no sabes qué regalar y es por ese motivo que he creado este adorno.

Mi triciclo del amor es muy versátil en cuanto a los usos que se le pueden dar, ya que no solo sirve como contenedor para caramelos, sino que también sirve como florero u organizador. Así que no pierdas la oportunidad de crear uno para ti o para regalar, ya que no solo estarías haciendo feliz a otra persona, sino que también estarías contribuyendo con el cuidado del medio ambiente. Como te muestro a continuación, muchos de los materiales utilizados en esta manualidad son materiales reciclados.

Step by step // Paso a paso

1️⃣ I started by cutting out thin strips of pink plain fomi to wrap around the lollipop sticks. These wrapped sticks will serve me to assemble the structure of the tricycle. Instead of lollipop sticks, you can use wood or steel wire.

Comencé recortando finas tiras de fomi liso rosado para envolverlas alrededor de los palitos de chupa-chups. Estos palitos envueltos me servirán para armar la estructura del triciclo. En vez de palitos de chupachups, se puede utilizar madera o alambre acerado.

2️⃣ With two strips of pink and one strip of white fomi, all 2 cm wide, I created the front rubber band. I wrapped first one of the pink strips, then the white one and finally the other pink one. I trimmed the ends of the stick and on each side I glued two parallel sticks lined with fomi.

Con dos tiras de fomi rosado y una tira de fomi blanco, todas de 2 cm de ancho, creé la goma delantera. Envolví primero una de las tiras rosadas, luego la blanca y al final la otra rosada. Recorté los extremos del palito y en cada lado pegué paralelamente dos palitos forrados en fomi.

3️⃣ With another wrapped stick I made the rudder, adding white fomi at the ends. After gluing it to the front of the tricycle, I added two more between the front bars to increase the rigidity of the piece.

Con otro palito envuelto hice el timón, añadiéndole fomi blanco en las puntas. Luego de pegarlo a la parte frontal del triciclo, agregué dos más entre las barras delanteras para aumentar la rigidez de la pieza.

4️⃣ For the back rubber bands I used the same logic as for the front, but in this case I inverted the colors of the fomi strips and instead of one rubber band I made two on each end of a wrapped stick. Additionally, I glued two more sticks on one of the sides, forming a triangle with respect to the axis of the rubber bands.

Para las gomas traseras utilicé la misma lógica que para la delantera, pero en este caso invertí los colores de las tiras de fomi y en vez de una goma hice dos en cada extremo de un palito envuelto. Adicionalmente, pegué dos palitos más en uno de los lados, formando un triángulo respecto al eje de las gomas.

5️⃣ Once I had the two pieces that make up the tricycle. I joined them in the middle, gluing the back piece to one of the dividers of the front piece. I also reinforced the frame by adding a white stick to the container of the back triangle and gluing a wrapped stick on top that joined this piece to the other divider of the front piece.

Una vez tuve las dos piezas que conforman el triciclo. Las uní por el medio, pegando la pieza trasera a uno de los divisores de la pieza delantera. También reforcé el cuadro agregando un palito blanco al contenedor del triángulo trasero y pegando encima un palito envuelto que unía esta pieza con el otro divisor de la pieza delantera.

6️⃣ I made the tricycle basket using a coffee capsule container. I removed the rim using scissors and then covered it with white fomi. Next, I used the metal cutting die to make a golden rim, which I separated into two parts and glued them to the top and bottom edge of the capsule.

La cesta del triciclo la hice utilizando el envase de una cápsula de café. Dicho envase, le quité el borde utilizando unas tijeras y luego lo cubrí con fomi blanco. Seguidamente, utilicé el troquel de corte metálico para hacer un borde dorado, el cual separé en dos partes y las pegué en el borde superior e inferior de la cápsula.

7️⃣ The seat part, which is also a container, was made using a paper espresso cup. I lined the cup with pink fomi and, as with the basket, used a cutting die to create several border pieces with white fomi. I glued the pieces onto the paper container.

La parte del asiento, que también es un envase, la hice empleando un vaso de papel para café expreso. Forré el vaso con fomi rosado y, al igual que con la cesta, utilicé un troquel de corte para crear varias piezas de borde con fomi blanco. Las piezas las pegué en el envase de papel.

8️⃣ Using the heart-shaped hole punch, I cut out several bright red hearts and glued them around the pink container. I glued the pink container to the back of the tricycle and, to finish, added some leftover hearts to the axles of each rubber band.

Con la perforadora con forma de corazón, recorté varios corazones rojos brillantes y los pegué alrededor del envase rosado. Pegué el envase rosado en la parte trasera del triciclo y, para finalizar, agregué algunos corazones sobrantes en los ejes de cada goma.

And that's how I made this love tricycle. As I told you before, you can use this ornament as an organizer, vase or candy container, so don't miss the opportunity to make your own, because not only would you be recycling, but by giving it to someone else, you would be making someone else happy.
