Votes for Mohamed Salah did not count towards the award, with the organization hitting out at reporting of the issue

FIFA has lashed out at the "unfair and misleading" reports about votes not being counted towards The Best awards in the case of the Egyptian, Mohamed Salah.

Nominations for Mohamed Salah from Egypt's captain and coach were missing from the list , with Nicaragua captain Juan Barrera saying on Twitter that though he did not vote, his name was included in the list on FIFA's official documentation.

FIFA in an attempt to clear this misinformation has declared in a statement released to Omnisport that Egypt's votes were not counted because there were termed "not valid" due to signatures in capital letters.

FIFA was disheartened to see reports spreading like wild fire, doubting their integrity of the voting process for The Best FIFA Football Awards and claimed in their statement that ,"These reports are unfair and misleading.

"The voting procedure for each of the awards is supervised and monitored by an independent observer, in this case PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Switzerland.
