Tithing is the 10% of your blessings from God and over the years many denominations or churches have had a lot to say about this.
According to pastor Chris oyakhilome; tithe is a testimonial of a blessing from God and not that If you don't give you will not be blessing.
Genesis 18:14
Abraham paid tithe to mechizedek after he blessed him in order words, tithing is not what triggers the blessings but an acknowledgement of the blessings.
For bishop oyedikpo and some other popular men of God ; it is the tithing that cause God's blessings to come raining down on us.

One of the reasons churches are springing up everywhere is because of tithes and offerings. Someone once said "the church is the most lucrative business ", so when he got his inheritance from his late father, he approached one of the then junior pastors in my church to come and pastor the church he was to establish.
The pastor refused his offer but that did not deter him from going ahead with his plans. Today that very church is located at abraka, delta state.
In such churches giving is next to godliness not holiness and church positions are given out to those members that pays or give the most..
Jesus threw out those buying and selling in the church in the temple of old but gradually they are back and selling more than never before.
The church has become a den of thieves, killers, robbers, adultery, fornication etc. Instead of a hospital for lost souls, the beaten, battered, heartbroken etc.

Now and days there are little or no church in most villages while the street where I reside have up to 4 churches and road leading to it have more than 10 churches. I know because I counted and along the line I lost count.
Is it good to pay tithe? Yes. It is unfortunate it has become an avenue of exploitation.
