Hey guys,
I was pondering alot today about family values and it's importance. And I came to the realization of what true family should be.
I come from a broken family, where my estranged father lives away from us, leaving us in the care of a (thankfully) strong, virtuous, loving and forgiving mother.
Many people who come from broken families usually develop psychological problems which can lead to crime, drug abuse and social awkwardness.
Thankfully I'm one of those who came out OK and strong because of a loving extended family who showed extreme love and support to us during trying times.
I went to the best schools, had good friends and very good education in and out of school. With all these in place, the pain of a broken home was stilled.
More homes than many are being broken nowadays for different reasons which I'm going to talk about in my next post.
The greatest gifts parents give children is nurturing and caring for them as they grow into adults. In doing so, parents teach children to establish healthy relationships within the family unit and beyond, helping children grow into happy, well-adjusted and successful adults. As life comes full circle, children often have the opportunity to return this gift by caring for their parents as they reach their senior years.
Who can be called family?
From my experience, I can say that family is anyone who loves you and will stick with you through the tests of life.
Anyone who claims to love you and yet abandons you when life gets a little tough cannot be family, it doesn't matter if you're blood related or not.
Note: Not all blood is family, and not all family is blood
Why it's is important to maintain good family relationships
Due to my experience with my family, I take family in high esteem.
It is therefore very important to maintain a good relationship with those I call family.
Because an ideal family will love you and protect you and help you in times of need.
So I encourage you friends, take family more seriously and maintain a good relationship with them as it will be in your best interest and that of the society.
