Hey fellow STEEMIANS,
I recently concluded an oldie but goldie novel called "THE BAD PLACE" by Dean Koontz and I must say that to me, this is the best novelist ever to grace the earth. This man has such a unique style, I mean he mixes horror with good humour and amazing suspense.
I firmly believe that reading the book caused a substantial increase in my IQ because after reading his write-ups, other novels I had seemed below my standard. Reading his novels raised my standards and caused me to be more analytical when reading. I am the kinda guy that loves a good laugh and I got a lot of that alongside a feel of fear, suspense and amazement. I began making research and discovered that this book actually scored a better review that the best seller, "the da Vinci code" which is another all time amazing book.
This book "the bad place" based it's story around a family of freaks with weird powers and a private detective couple trying to sell out their PI firm. Their individual stories then get intertwined when a member of the freak family "Frank Pollard" seeks out help from the PI couple. They agree to help him not realising that this is not one of the usual cases they're used to.
And SPOILER ALERT, Frank can teleport and so can his brother Cindy who seeks to kill him.
The most immersing side of the story was at its ending. Dean Koontz delivered an intriguing and yet satisfactory ending which "wowed" me and gave me the best satisfaction I've had since I began reading novels.
Two days after I read "the bad place", I tried getting into another book but I lost interest after the first five pages. I've not always been the guy that reads romance novels (although it wasn't a romance novel) due to the fact that I basically have an overactive imagination. I prefer to watch and read things that test that imagination. And I'm glad to say I got my fill of that from reading this book.
This got me making research about more of his works and I read two more of his books called, "demon seed" and "the eyes of darkness". These were also extremely amazing books. Demon seed basically talked about a created psychopathic machine that's seeks to experience all the pleasures and intrigues of being human and will do just anything to achieve it. The eyes of darkness is about a woman who was made to believe her son was dead, but little did she know that there was a huge conspiracy surrounding her sons so called accident.
I highly recommend "Dean Koontz" to my steemit friends. You'll get to experience what I'm talking about.
Thanks for reading
