11.11. is not only the beginning of carnival, but also World Origami Day.
This is certainly not so well known here, but it is in other countries.
In Japan, this day certainly has a higher significance.
From 24 October to 11 November, the World Origami Days (WOD) are celebrated there.
The name Origami comes from Japanese and is a play on words between oru (German for folding) and kami (German for paper).
What people don't know is that the origins don't come from Japan, but rather from China, Spain, Italy and, get this, Germany.
The most famous origami figure is certainly the crane. It is also considered an international peace figure.
And because I've practically never done it in the last 10 years, I tried my hand at a fish. Here is my result after 5 minutes of tutorial.
I actually enjoyed it and did another one.
This one, however, took 10 minutes of my time and I almost broke my fingers.
Now the question: What kind of animal have I got???
