It has been a very hard winter for me, with so many life challenges and changes happening that at times I have barely been able to hold it together! I am currently living in South India and we've also had months of rain and cloud and today, finally, the Sun is coming back! The winter solstice signals a change from darkness to light, a time for positivity and new growth. 

Today the sun will be visible for the shortest time of the year if you are a Northern Hemisphere dweller, or the longest time if you are in the South of planet Earth. So wishing you all a very happy solstice to all my friends here on Steemit!

What does "solstice" even mean?

It comes from the word “solstitium” in Latin, which translates as “sun standing.” During the solstice the sun appears to standstill before it reverses in direction.  Solstice is a pagan festival that is celebrated around the world, and if you are in England you might want to pay a visit to Stone Henge which is never too far away from whatever part of the UK you are In (I'm in India so any significant journey is at least a 12 hour drive!)

Wherever you are in the world, I wish you a blessed Solstice with quality time with family, friends and loved ones. Nothing in life is more precious than being able to spend quality time with the people we hold dear, and now is a great time of year to affirm that by getting together and being in the moment together!
