Ecency - Decentralized social, built for the Web3 generation.
Keep your history, gain a new way to sign in.

If you've been on Hive for a while - whether through Ecency, PeakD, or any other Hive frontend - you already have an account with a set of cryptographic keys tied to it. You don't need to start over to use MetaMask.
Ecency lets you add MetaMask as an additional signing method to your existing Hive account. Here's what that means and how to do it.
Hive accounts support multiple sets of keys. When you link MetaMask to your existing Hive account, Ecency generates a new set of keys associated with your MetaMask wallet and adds them alongside your existing keys.
The result: your account now has two ways to log in and sign transactions:
Your original Hive keys (unchanged, still fully functional)
Your MetaMask wallet (new, added via this process)
Nothing is removed or replaced. You can use either method going forward.
Your existing Hive account credentials (posting key, active key, or master password)
MetaMask installed and set up with at least one active wallet
Go to ecency.com and log in using your current Hive keys or Keychain.
Navigate to your Profile Wallets or by directly going look for the Link Metamask section.
Click Link MetaMask. Your browser will open the MetaMask prompt asking you to connect. Approve the connection.
Ecency will ask you to sign an authorization using your existing Hive keys to confirm that you own this account and are approving the addition of new keys. This is a one-time step to prove ownership.
Once confirmed, the MetaMask-linked keys are added to your Hive account.
From this point forward, you can:
Log in to Ecency with MetaMask - no need to paste your Hive keys
Sign all transactions with MetaMask - posts, votes, transfers, and more
View your multichain wallet - your Ethereum, Solana, BNB, and other MetaMask-linked addresses now appear in your Ecency wallet page
Still use your original keys - nothing about your existing setup has changed
Benefit | Details |
|---|---|
Easier login | No more copying and pasting private keys |
Multichain wallet view | See all your Web3 assets in one place |
Familiar UX | Sign transactions the way you already do across Web3 |
No key replacement | Your original keys remain intact and usable |
Linking MetaMask does not expose your existing private keys to MetaMask, and it does not give MetaMask control over your original keys. The new MetaMask-linked keys are separate - they are simply an additional authorized set for your account.
As always, keep your MetaMask seed phrase and Hive master password safe and offline.
Whether you're a longtime Hive user or just arrived via MetaMask, Ecency is built to give you full ownership of your content, your identity, and your assets - across multiple blockchains, from one platform.
If you haven't explored your wallet page yet, now's a great time. You'll find all your connected chain balances, transfer options, and more - all signable with MetaMask.
