With the tourists arriving during the summer season, the population of the island is increasing between 5000-10.000. In winter, the population may fall to 1000. The island has a primary school and a high school. A total of 300 students are enrolled in these schools.

There are few who live in the island and do not have a tie, who do not know how to make wine. Since Bozcaada is located on fish migration routes, fishing is a profession that has been a long history.
