I realize this is probably crackpot to say, but I personally believe the meteor falling and everything else that has happened since is intrinsically linked. I think there was something of importance in that meteor and the Powers that Be have tried to wrestle that discovery from Russian hands ever since.

I think it's interesting that within months of this, fighting began in the separatist regions of Ukraine/Russia. Fighting that has never stopped since.
