After a long walk in the dark scary woods, my heavy panting and the chirping of birds saturated the quiet atmosphere. The only thing I could think of was my safety from the dreadful beast hunting me as I paved way into the thick trees. The whirring of the beast and its heavy footsteps could be heard behind me groaning in search of me, my heart beat fast as fear envelope my whole being. Nothing in the forest looked familiar, the canopy trees were evidence that I'm lost. I came to an old house made of coffee situated in the middle of the woods. In fear, I took a step forward to see who was in the house, hoping it would be that of a hunter to probably save me from the dreadful beast.
“Hello”?,I called out, hoping for someone to open the woody door, but welcomed with echoes of my voice.
I moved closer to the door and I was about to knock when I realized the door was opened. On the other end were white calabash with liquid dripping from some bags suspended in the air. Fear gripped me, but the silence that filled the abandoned building eased my tension
Slowly,I pushed the door and walked into the house. Apart from the exterior of the house being made of coffee, the interior was also made of coffee in a different brand. The couch, the old TV sets, the little bed by the window side, everything was made of coffee.
While looking around the house,I came across an old dairy, took it and dust it off.
“This dairy must have belonged to the owner of the house”,I said to myself . Holding the dairy in my hands,I went towards one of the coffee-made couches and sat down, it wasn't as hard as I had assumed it would be. Gently, I opened the dairy, from page to page going through it.
Emilia Roberts,that was her name.
She was an outcast from the nearby town after being accused of witchcraft.
All her sons and husband died a mysterious death, and so the community assumed she was a witch. She lived in the woods for a few years before she finally died. During her stay, she had a small coffee farm behind the house where she spent most of her days, but the coffee farm wasn’t producing enough and expected coffee for her. So her last wish on her dying bed was that everything she had owed should become coffee.
On the last page was a brown key with a tag on it, "make a wish just as I did and whatever you wish will be granted". I stood there puzzled not knowing whether to wish that I find my way home or go for a different option. I was about saying a word when something grabbed my neck, with it finger lingering at my eyes
"Rose" it whispered into my ears. "Run!".
