If you've missed the first episode, you can read it from here Medicine Of death. I'm trying to work on three to four episodes of story writing. A way to groom me into writing long fiction.
"I was brought up here. There's my house there, on the hill" Robert said
"In this case, we are neighbors"
Cocking her head, she looked at him awaiting. Robert didn't understand what she was trying to say, so he gave her a forced smile in response.
" I would be glad to meet you... Someday, in a neighboring way"
she sniffs merrily and tossed her hair, and goes to meet her horse. Without his help, she easily climbed into the saddle
"I hope we can have another talk too. I need to go, have a nice day Robert!" Spurring her horse with her heels, she disappeared behind the road turn. Robert scratch his head
"You rude clump ... I think I forgot to introduce myself, or not? How does she know my name?" He throws the fireworks remaining into the bushes and walks toward the house thinking over and over about his conversation with the girl in his head. The more he thought about it, the more familiar her face seemed, but where did he meet her, and under what circumstances? Was what he couldn't tell.
"A riddle!" He mumbled.
He repeated the dialogue with the girl in his mind
Why have you chosen to leave university for our hinterland,- I have a sabbatical, he punched himself in the knee with his fist in disappointment.
"You are a mumbling wimp! You have seen a pretty girl and been at a loss for words, oh my God, what did I tell her?" He became suddenly worried "If only she knows I am a loser, a laughing stock of the whole university, a pauper illusionist, she would never look at me like that"
People usually looked at him with indulgence and pity: what a madman who has decided to solve the great mysteries of matter alone.
"If she knows the truth about me, I will burn with Shane immediately! But... How pretty she is".
On the other end, Catherine, excited by the meeting, flies home and with outstretched arms, twirls around the living room.
"He didn't recognize me at all, yeah, i didn't know if it was him at first either , but.. o , Robert, you're still so absentminded" she said, ashamed a little that she had fooled him. She felt she should have told him who she is but it wouldn't be so funny. When no one can see her, she falls into an armchair and can't help laughing.
"A serious young scientist indeed, oh Robert, you always wanted to be it and I," she took a sigh. Alchemy was her secret passion. She have read everything she could have , unfortunately her knowledge was limited only by theory. A girl from a good family should Sing, dance, play for harpsichord and heaven forbid, no alchemical experiments.
"Cathie, get yourself together, mum is coming " she told herself as she jumped into an armchair with her feet and started to describe today's meeting in detail. Robert comes back in front of her mind: So interesting, so mature, so casually wandered into her boring land from the wondrous world of science, so sweet there's a dimple on his chin.
"I hope we'll meet one more time"
"I'm glad to see you happy cathie, I can see that James has written to you about his coming, right?" Catherine's mum who had just entered the living room said. She didn't notice her mum coming to her, her mum's words pulled her out of her reveries and made her guts shrink inside. No please, No James
"James is coming to us? When?"
From her mother's point of view, you and James could be perfect sweethearts, from your point of view, it's much better to die or run away from home and live with gypsies.
"Hasn't he written? I am sorry, he's coming on Friday afternoon with a train, are you happy?"
"Of course, I am happy," cathie replied, faking it.
"Cathie, I'm glad that you've finally stopped turning your nose at James. He is a good and decent young man and in our situation, we don't have much choice. You're an adult, you understand"
Putting down an interim sense of protest, she forced herself to smile on her face and quickly change the topic.
"Oh mun, by the way, Mr Zakman came back. Did you know? Do you remember him? He's a scientist now"
"A scientist?"
"An alchemist from the University. I met him today by accident. Mum let's invite him to the party"
She manages to convince her mum
"I'll send an invitation to Mr Zakman then"
With impatience , she hop to her feet
"No mum, I can bring it to him myself".
She took the letter to deliver to him, and wondered how she haven't walked the road leading to the old house on the hill for a long time. She felt the excitement as the familiar apple tree orchard came into view followed by the tile-roofed cottage. Robert was in the orchard and she wondered what he was doing there , he looked contemplative.
"You see, I'm so ashamed at that time, I didn't even ask your name," Robert asked, smiling awkwardly. "I have the strange feeling that we've already known each other from somewhere"
"Of course, we know each other , Robert, Since my childhood"
