Lost on the road way
Been a lover of travel adventure, I persuaded a friend who had a personal car to take a trip to a city we haven't been before. Travelling to almost all the states in my country was my priority among other goals I had after my college. Though my friends might have had a different objective in life but I persuaded them to help me accomplish mine to which unconsciously they did. We Intended traveling to a state called Bauchi in my country, people have said much about how cheap items are purchased there, so I wanted to have an evidence for myself.
Unfortunately, none of us knew the route to the city, we only hoped our Google map will guide us to our destination. The journey started smoothly, chatting and laughing in the car as we passed through the major cities we were so familiar with. No one could read map properly among us and that became our major problem as we started into the roadways that were unfamiliar to us, we only hoped our little knowledge will help us reach our destination.
Our ignorance dawn on us when we realised we had took the wrong road way close to about 4-5hours into the journey and was heading to a very dangerous city in Nigeria (maiduguri). With no hesitation, we made a U-turn to return to the path we had earlier missed. Unfortunate again, we took a path that was leading to another strange village and it was already getting dark. We have been told how dangerous it was to travel that path during dark hours but we had no choice and worst, we couldn't read the sign post because the sun has gone down. We kept driving into any path we thought was save in search of an hotel to rest for the night and decide on what to do the next morning . We stopped at a junction and enquired where we can get a hotel to lodge, the man showed us the road way to the only available hotel nearby and it happened to be the roadway we left earlier. We were frustrated from all the driving and the path we kept missing, it wasn't funny for that night but after every of the event and had returned home the next day, we saw that journey to be a very funny one.
