Juliet looked at the wall clock placed at the tower of the gate
"I should be out here before nightfall" she said to herself as she proceeded to enter the city popularly known as the Holocaust. It was the annual festival of the full moon where all tribes across the region gathered to celebrate. To them the full moon was the beginning of a new year, a time when the gods walk through the town and purify the land from evil. The ground where the ceremony took place was crowded, people dressed in masquerade attires, the smell of powders thrown into the air filled the atmosphere as they danced round a campfire. Juliet who was still in the spirit of the moment lost track of time engrossed in dancing, it was when she turned in the direction of the clock that she realized it was 11:30pm. She searched around for Gabriella whom she had come with but couldn't find her in the playground. She waited a little while hoping she would see her. Moments later, She decided to walk through the lonely path as she realized the night was growing cold and almost everyone who had come for the occasion had left.
The full moon shone dimly on the lonely and quiet path except for the howling of owls. Juliet hastened her footsteps, her heart almost falling out of her chest as her eyes waver into the thick tree making her bones cold. She had gone midway into the forest when she started to hear footsteps that seemed as if several people were walking uniformly across the other side of the forest. The forest that was once quiet suddenly became noisy with indistinct chattering. She hid herself beside a tree and eavesdropped but couldn't comprehend anything. Her knee grew weak as she saw a cart driving itself pass the road followed by tiny creatures matching behind it. Even though they looked tiny, their feet were as large as that of humans. She was about to move out of her hiding to a safer place when she felt a hand grabbing her legs, on her shoulders were fingers that had long nails making it way through to her face. She opened her mouth to scream but her voice failed her.
She woke up moments later screaming to the top of her voice
"Calm down, calm down, you're safe," one of the people standing beside her said.
"Where am I?" She asked, looking around puzzled.
"We saw you lying helplessly in the forest as we went out for a patrol," one of the men answered, smiling sheepishly.
"So where am I?" She asked.
" In the hospital" the same man answered as he turned his back to leave, chuckling softly.
There was something about that guy Juliet suspected. He had left when she noticed a toy beside her bed written on it "Happy Halloween" in red ink. She was right, she had seen that same toy on the cart that wheeled itself the night before. "It was him" she said faintly and. Swoon off again.

Vuelve a desmayarte.
