I've programmed in all of those languages. The key is that if you already know C++ it is actually quite easy to use. It's actually pretty close to Java, though javascript veered from that path some.

Python is probably a little easier to use than both of them.

There are definitely trade offs. It depends upon what you are doing. The key though is I don't know of any of the big cryptos EOS is competing against that are using javascript and python to write their smart contracts.

Instead they are using things like Haskell or spin offs of it.

That was kind of my point... when compared to those choices C++ is much more well known.

CS has been my thing pretty much since I was I think 11 or so. I'm now 50. (EDIT: That doesn't make me better at it. I only was stating it so you'd know I am in the field as well)

I understand languages quite well and stopped counting how many I knew a long time ago. Though the fact I knew them doesn't mean I am still good at them. Which one I would get really good at was usually work related. Which one did my work require?

With that said... I absolutely do not know why cryptos that what they are saying "we'll be able to do this exciting thing by (insert month)" as super exciting and revolutionary. When they tend to be things EOS has been doing for a couple of years but at a faster speed than these new cryptos are making a big deal about....

Sure they are faster than Ethereum. Yet that is not saying much. A lot of smart contracts are faster than Ethereum.

Ethereum has a huge established base. I'm pretty sure they've made it so you can run Ethereum contracts on top of EOS if you want. I may be misremembering.

So why hasn't it been widely adopted?

I don't know but I am genuinely interested.

EDIT: Most of my personal coding these days is C# which veered off from C++ kind of like javascript veered off from Java.

100% of my development currently is in Unity and C# is the language of choice there. Thus, why it is my current focus.
