Ridi Viharaya is located nearly about 20 kilometers away from Kurunegala district in a small village known as Ridi Gama. This temple was built by King Dutugemunu in the 2nd century BC. He made this temple because he found a silver ore mine that was helpful to finance Ruwanweli Seya .
As Mahawansa says, the discovery of this mine was done by a trader
