A man was sharing his story with us today about how he sent two of his children to a very expensive school so that they could mingle with rich people's children to create connections for them in the future. According to the man his children are now in the United Kingdom through the connection of their friends. The man said when he was paying the school fees of the two children, it was not easy, he sacrificed a lot for them to go to that school but now they’re not ripping the benefits. I have seen people doing this sending their children to an expensive school, but I don’t grasp why, when they can afford it, but he shed more light into it.
Some people can call his desperation, but it is just an understanding of how to create connection, especially in a country like Nigeria, where you need the connection to do something meaningful in the country. Without a connection, you cannot get any good job in Nigeria. Some parents have clear ambitions for their children and they work toward them, this man shows that he understands the power of people and how it is very important to have people with power who can support us because most time is not always about talent you have, sometimes it’s always about people you know.
We need people
The main reason why some people do not go far in life is that they lack social intelligence, they believe that they can do everything on their own without needing another person, and they believe when you are trying to make friends with people it only shows that you are insecure, which they are wrong, they don’t know the power knowing people and also having good human relation. Many people are so talented and brilliant but the only thing that they don't have is how to make themself known to people, how to create awareness of what they do and who they are, and this is because they don’t have anybody that can promote or help them. Some of these people don’t even have friends to begin with and that is how they live all their life and die with their incredible talent.
Whether you agree with me or not the caliber of people we know determines how far we go in life, sometimes what makes some people more successful than you is it kind of information and the kind of people that they have access to. If you have access to powerful people and a powerful family, It always makes a difference, especially when you have something to offer. I am not saying sending your children to school you can not afford Is it right way to go, but if you know that you have an opportunity to do something like that, it is always better to put your children in such a position.
Value
There is value in everybody we know, never look down on anybody because you don’t know tomorrow and the kind of power they might possess in the future, it is always better we have a good relationship with as many people as we can because we don’t know who might help us in the future. Putting your children among the children of the Elite is always good not only because of opportunities but the kind of people that there was surround themselves with when they are growing up.
