Managing finances can be a challenge in Africa, particularly when you come from a family that struggles financially. Balancing your own expenses with those of others can make it tough to make ends meet. Even if you are careful, you may end up broke. I knew someone who learned this lesson the hard way. Sometimes, being kind needs to have limits.
My friend loves his mother so much, to the extent that he shares everything with her, including his net worth, but it gets to a point where his mother always wants to borrow money from him, and because of this guy's love for his mother, he keeps borrowing her money to the extent my friend became frustrated, and he was forced to seek advice from me. I couldn't advise against him giving his mother money, but I did mention something that day, that he should not put the burden of others on his head. A few months later, this guy was forced to ask for money from me because he didn't have enough with him, not because of anything, but because he gave out so much, and his mother was part of the problem.
Money and emotions work together, to be a master of the coin you must be able to separate them.
Money is compelling, and when we start making money it seems to us that it is easy, but if we mismanage the power and the money that we have, it can quickly leave us, and this does not matter maybe we are trying to do something for a good reason, or not doing something good is very important and we must be a cheerful giver, even not only to those who are emotionally attached to us but also to people. when we are supposed to be building but giving too much that will affect our finances is not the best way to live life, regardless of who they are to us.
Many individuals struggle to improve their financial status due to emotional attachment to money. Some are unaware that this emotional attachment is a problem. For those who are aware, there are numerous apps and tools available, that can help limit spending. However, emotions tied to money are not always influenced by past experiences. Often, people make poor financial decisions due to love, guilt, or fear of offending someone, which hinders personal growth.
It is good to help but you must know your limit to avoid sudden falls.
It's important to understand that those who are emotionally attached to us may rely heavily on our immediate financial support. However, constantly providing for them can be detrimental to both them and ourselves. It's crucial to recognize our limits and maintain stability by helping ourselves first. This doesn't mean we should abandon those we care about, but rather be mindful of when our support is affecting us and take a step back until we have something more to offer. this way we will not fail them and not fail ourselves.
