In my previous post, I discussed the impact of emotional spending on long-term finances. Today, I want to explore two primary triggers for emotional spending which are fear and sadness.
We have so many things that affect us to spend our money emotionally. I know most people are aware of the fear of losing out, which is another form of spending emotionally, but that one is for investors. The fear of losing out for a commoner is just a fear that society has brainwashed us to believe, and they started asking us questions like what if you die tomorrow? We all know that death is one of the biggest scams of the century and this is because nobody wants to die. it is one of the few things we don't have control over and most people spend emotionally because of this.
the second thing is sadness; you see, some people have been sad for a very long period, and it gets to a point they believe having all the money in the world can make them happy, and that's why you see when they finally get the money and they can afford almost anything. It won't still make them happy, and the reason is that money will make you secure, but it might not give you that fulfillment you are looking for, and that is why it is essential to understand that money won't give you that fulfillment you looking for and you must first understand yourself before you start spending lavishly.
Time will tell.
When it comes to emotion, time has always been the key component to overcoming it. You see, nobody's wiser regarding emotion because things hit us differently. ability to stay calm and process what you are about to do and give it some time to let it play out a little bit is one the key component of winning the war over emotion. If you are the type that does everything immediately, you always fall under the trap of emotions, and that is why it is better to take your time.
