We return to the city again, and we once again walk through streets and squares that have essence, history and a lot of charm. Because the architecture of the past reminds us of where we come from, and we also love it, it delights our eyes, and it amazes us.

So once again I return to the old heart of the city, (in Valencia, Spain) to those streets from another era, still traveled today by people who come and go, without often looking around. I lift my head and show you those facades of charming buildings with a beautiful, classic architecture.

A bright blue sky day invites us to walk and wander around and we begin in the iconic El Pilar neighborhood, entering through narrow streets, one of those old ones where one building casts a shadow over the other, a way they used to build in the past for safety. Soon, on the right, we find a sober church, a square plaza, and begin to see the thousands of classic facades with balconies on all sides.

And we also pay attention to the details, the small architectural details and also the more striking ones. We even love the doors, handcrafted and with meticulous designs that no one makes anymore. Why? They're urban treasures to be appreciated, and that's why I want to celebrate these streets of another time, those balconies with flower pots that stretch along these streets.

And suddenly, from this historic labyrinth, we emerge into an open area. We arrive at the Biblioteca Pública = Public Library (it's Valencia's general library, the oldest and most important). And it's much more than a place for old books. In addition to those ancient woods that preserve a long-standing culture, it's also a historic building, an arched monument that marks its imposing entrance, a humble chapel among trees, and a wide pleasant garden.

And we continue further, returning to the clean, classic facades filled with symmetrical balconies that accompany us throughout the urban walk. And between them, we sometimes discover something else, for example, a much older stone tower, which coexists with the entire urban landscape, blending styles and eras in perfect harmony.

We are surprised by more beautiful buildings, now close to Plaza de la Virgen, a place of much tourism and bustling local life. The Regional Government Palace impresses us, transporting us almost to a Renaissance era of classical and elegant architecture. If we turn around, we see that the rest of the facades with balconies are still there, even those of other official bodies, which amaze us with their stunning sky blue.

Once again, we encounter another ancient decorated tower that has surely stood for many centuries, and it contemplates the constant and intense flow of people through these charming streets. More buildings, more facades, more balconies, more history, and more architecture, and we continue onward until we reach the end.

The Serranos Tower (Torre de Serranos) marks the end of this urban journey we have enjoyed so much, with that imposing medieval mass that once marked the entrance to the walled city, and which, despite the changes, remains there, reigning over all the comings and goings of people and traffic, unfazed by change and time. Waving the flag and celebrating history, the architecture and the city.

Regresamos a la ciudad y recorremos calles y plazas con esencia, historia y mucho encanto. Porque la arquitectura del pasado nos recuerda nuestros orígenes, y también nos encanta, nos deleita la vista y nos maravilla.

Así que, una vez más, regreso al casco antiguo de la ciudad (en Valencia, España), a esas calles de otra época, aún transitadas por gente que va y viene sin mirar a su alrededor. Levanto la vista y les muestro esas fachadas de edificios encantadores con una hermosa arquitectura clásica.

Un día de cielo azul brillante nos invita a caminar y pasear, y comenzamos en el icónico barrio del Pilar, adentrándonos por calles estrechas, de esas antiguas donde un edificio proyecta sombra sobre otro, como solían construir para mayor seguridad. Pronto, a la derecha, encontramos una sobria iglesia, una plaza cuadrada, y empezamos a ver las miles de fachadas clásicas con balcones por todos lados.

Y también prestamos atención a los detalles, tanto a los pequeños detalles arquitectónicos como a los más llamativos. Incluso nos encantan las puertas, hechas a mano y con diseños meticulosos que ya nadie fabrica. ¿Por qué? Son tesoros urbanos que hay que apreciar, y por eso quiero celebrar estas calles de otro tiempo, esos balcones con macetas que se extienden a lo largo de ellas.

Y de repente, desde este laberinto histórico, salimos a un espacio abierto. Llegamos a la Biblioteca Pública (es la biblioteca general de Valencia, la más antigua e importante). Y es mucho más que un lugar para libros antiguos. Además de esos bosques centenarios que preservan una cultura ancestral, también es un edificio histórico, un monumento con arcos que marca su imponente entrada, una humilde capilla entre árboles y un amplio y agradable jardín.

Y seguimos adelante, volviendo a las fachadas limpias y clásicas llenas de balcones simétricos que nos acompañan durante todo el paseo urbano. Y entre ellos, a veces descubrimos algo más, por ejemplo, una torre de piedra mucho más antigua, que convive con todo el paisaje urbano, fusionando estilos y épocas en perfecta armonía.

Nos sorprenden más edificios hermosos, ahora cerca de la Plaza de la Virgen, un lugar de gran afluencia turística y una animada vida local. El Palacio de Gobierno Regional nos impresiona, transportándonos casi a una época renacentista de arquitectura clásica y elegante. Si nos damos la vuelta, vemos que el resto de las fachadas con balcones siguen allí, incluso las de otros organismos oficiales, que nos maravillan con su impresionante azul cielo.

Una vez más, nos encontramos con otra antigua torre decorada que seguramente ha permanecido en pie durante muchos siglos, y que contempla el flujo constante e intenso de gente por estas encantadoras calles. Más edificios, más fachadas, más balcones, más historia y más arquitectura, y seguimos adelante hasta llegar al final.

La Torre de Serranos marca el final de este recorrido urbano que tanto hemos disfrutado, con esa imponente mole medieval que antaño marcaba la entrada a la ciudad amurallada y que, a pesar de los cambios, permanece allí, dominando el ir y venir de la gente y el tráfico, imperturbable ante el cambio y el tiempo. Ondeando la bandera y celebrando la historia, la arquitectura y la ciudad.
