Hello archi lovers!
We return to Chicago once again because there is always more to contemplate, there is always another perspective in the city of architecture to explore and enjoy. Our eyes never get tired and although it is becoming less to discover this time we are going to delight ourselves with the views.
We already know the views and the skyline, we know buildings, parks, amusement parks, museums, stadiums, the zoo, the river and much more. What else is left? A few last walks, some more tourist activity and then the memories. Because the views from wherever we are are unforgettable. So this time there are more photos than words, maybe...
This time views from water and air. From the lake, from the sky itself and from far away... Where we realize the grandeur of the structures and constructions, the roads and the design of the city itself that lives facing nature, Lake Michigan.
Because the weather doesn't matter, it's always a pleasure to navigate one of the great lakes, Lake Michigan, that sensation of the sea without being the sea is strange but special. Because the views are unique, perhaps they are not mountains or the horizon itself if we look to one side, but another type of architectural horizon, a famous skyline that we already know.
Some unique and imposing buildings, each one different and with its own design personality we could say, they do not lose their prominence despite the number of ships, boats and sailboats that usually pass by. And from a boat with the distance we appreciate everything in the same plane, thus immortalizing the essence of a city that is pure architecture.
We get off at the sports dock to return to the urban jungle because when we can see the buildings there is one that stands out especially, it is the tallest in the city, the Willis Tower (formerly called the Sears Tower).
A rectangular and black building that is not so close but more to the west but that its height makes it continue to be one of the references. Now we have to go there, and from its transparent viewpoint that stands out on the 103rd floor of the 108 it has (I will always remember that 103rd) we contemplate as human gods that gloat over their creations.
An almost endless tide of towers seems to fill our eyes, but the end is in the lake and in the sky that covers everything on sunny or cloudy days. An amalgamation of small objects, miniature buildings are scattered across the plane, intertwining with different straight and curved lines, the roads where life circulates. Because real, urban life is down there. We look down without fear, without vertigo.
And what do we have left? Go beyond the confines of all that immense nucleus of gigantic structures and infrastructures that fit together like a puzzle. We take air, from land, and move far away again to acquire another new perspective.
From another angle, from the south we see the lake again from another shore, and we see the skyline different but just as impressive and spectacular. Because in this way we continue to have the feeling of being small in the face of the grandeur of the environment, which combines everything built from the ground up with the natural space that houses it.
And the light and reflections change, the optical effect changes, from further away, smaller or more blurred, but everything remains the same, a great city, the icon of architecture in its maximum and multiple expression. With incredible views and from many perspectives.
Also another perspective, a personal perspective not so spectacular but mine from an old remembered home...
Fall in love with Chicago, you'll see more...
