You saw that I also mentioned Spain as a country where my friends immigrated.
You know who I had in mind? 🙂
What are you going to do... Always the first generation that emigrates has that nostalgia, but they bear it for the benefit of their successors, who are offered more opportunities for a better quality of life in that other country.
And this is where education comes in (another topic given by galenkp as an option), as the most important aspect of children's upbringing, because if parents do not accept the culture and customs of the country they immigrated to, their descendants will probably follow that pattern... And create problems for themself and others.
RE: Xenophobe, racist, nativist or chauvinist? I'm neither of those things, but...
