One rabbit will be shot.
Since I loved cartoons with Bugs Bunny as a child (although it annoyed me that my name in my language is a translation of the name of this cartoon character Duško Dugouško), I immediately got hooked on the topic suggested by galenkp for this weekend:
Imagine you are Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny was giving you smart ass comments and picking on you...would you fucken shoot him or retort with intelligence?
It was clear to me that it would be difficult for me to associate myself with the character of a naive, slow, gullible, passionate hunter who has no focus, so I will try to tell this story from my point of view.
What would happen and how would it happen if I found myself in a situation where I was hunting one rabbit.
I always find it cute when in a cartoon, a curled up hunter Elmer with an oversized rifle (who is essentially a sport hunter) says, "Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting wabbits!"
If I had gone hunting, I would never have announced something like that.
I would disguise myself, load the rifle with bullets and head for the rabbit.
Because one rabbit should be shot.
But if I happened to encounter the cunning and wise Bugs Bunny during that hunt, who could tie the barrel of my rifle in a knot or twist it 180 °, so that I would shoot myself in the face, I think that in that case I would not have a chance.
However, how does this rule apply in real life:
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
it is clear how difficult it is for someone who is intelligent when he has to enter into an argument with the other side, which is strong but stupid.
In such situations, the one who is intelligent should lower the game to the level of the opponent (who is stupid and maybe has a gun) and try to somehow make the situation prevail on his, more intelligent side.
It is necessary to use intelligence to understand the right level to which communication should be reduced, and at that level, try to beat the opponent.
Or if you don't win, at least don't be loser (and in the case of Bugs Bunny, run away from danger).
We had a situation in Belgrade in the last few days, which showed that sometimes intelligence is not enough.
The political party that is currently in Serbia, for the purposes of a promotional campaign, hangs a huge banner on the wall of a tall building, in the cavities of which nesting white-tailed eagles, which prevents adult birds from reaching the chicks.
The public raised their voices, gathered in front of that building and blocked the street, calling on city leaders to remove the banner.
The protest lasts all day and night, they call for the reaction of various societies for the protection of animals, they call for the reaction of the city authorities and the police, firefighters, but in vain.
The unintelligent, stupid, unscrupulous government, which doesn't even care about the population, and not about the colony of birds that are protected by law, doesn't respond to those appeals and calls from citizens and instead of dismantling the banner, sends the police in front of the building to scare and disperse the crowd (the law of the stronger, who has a gun).
Realizing that the government, which is capable of trying to cover up corruption and murders, will certainly not respond to citizens' appeals, and that conducting talks at a higher level of intelligence is fruitless, a larger gathering of citizens is organized and several of them manage to climb the building and start tearing down the banners.
Some more citizens join in, and only then (when the more intelligent one stopped talking and lowered himself to the level of a stupid and strong opponent), realizing that one of the citizens might get hurt in that action, the authorities send police officers to remove the banner.
The birds did survive.
But if, in the situation with me, Bugs Bunny would find himself behind the crosshairs of someone who is not as naive and slow as Elmer, I think his series of cartoons would soon end.
