Learning household chores does not make you look primitive or 'less modern'. Stop pretending to be a Princess who has never mopped the floor or hasn't seen kitchen ever in her life. If you really believe in Independence, you must understand that modernity is about making an efficient use of the resources you have, be it in the kitchen or at your work place. It's good to be a simple woman who knows when to control the purse strings than be a bimbo who prefers to go on a spending spree than to learn something new and important.

2. Exclusively for Indian women: Modernity is not about you conversing with your child in English. The first and the most important language a child learns in his life is his mother language. And you, as a mother, should be proud of that language. You might be just too concerned about making your child globally competent, but understand, it's equally important for you to respect and love that language. Stop scolding them in public and pretending to be embarrassed. We aren't living in the British era. Even if we were, it shouldn't matter.

3. Traditional attires and accessories are irreplaceable. Bindi, sindoor, Bangles do not make you a “behenji”. Dupatta completes the Indian attire. It is sad we have been working towards the erosion of our own cultural values.

4. Empowerment doesn't come from your physical beauty, expensive clothes , Instagram filters , pouts , the “get away from me” lean, musical videos, dog filters on Snapchat, etc; confidence, hard work, originality, smile are traits which count above all of these. Seek respect and not attention, ladies!

5. Respect the other gender. Feminism is about equality and not superiority. Do not generalise your notion about one gender just because the society has some douchebags. Mistakes are not a copyright of men alone. It's a quality of both.

Be a woman with a class and a lady with an attitude proving her worth through her work and not through pictures, selfies on social media. Because picture is superficial but your personality is not.
