I totally hear you . I have always been interested in alternative forms of housing. In actuality "alternative housing" is a loaded term, as what I am interested in is mostly a return to the types of housing our ancestors built. Using various form factors and natural materials that they have used for millennia. Structures like yurts, and log cabins made of wood and tiny houses made of cob, adobe or stabilized compressed earth blocks, blocks made from hempcrete and other materials.

These types of structures can be well built for very little amounts of money. And the labor used with minimal instruction can go to work straight away building.

I like your idea. But what I always run into while researching is the various government regulations. If we could find work arounds or loop holes we could construct affordable housing no problem. Like you said, all the various regulations I feel are not designed for housing, but tax revenue.
