When I would play competitive Magic the Gathering, the Worlds tournament was always my favorite event, watching people compete for their country and themselves in the game we all love. I have been talking with WeirdBeard about the possibility of a World event for Splinterlands as well.
My idea was to create 6 - 8 different regions by continent with the top 4 or top 8 from each region qualifying for a 32 or 64 player Worlds event. I think there would be regional events to find the top players to qualify for the world finals and the world finals would be our marquee worldwide stage for eSports competition.
I think if management can start looking at high-level tournament play as a way to market the game outside of the play-to-earn mechanics of our ranked play, that it would go a long way to entice more competitive players to consider Splinterlands more seriously.
