Eventually, they get the kids up and about, eagerly wandering about, excited to get their day going.
Snappy little fellow, crossing my path. I look at him and chastise him in my brain. Snapping turtles will eat little ducklings, one of the reasons that one of the Canadian Geese families have on gosling left. Ducks will eat a small turtle, although I see very few of them yet. A big snapping turtle like this one will eat ducks. He was over two feet long, from head to tail.
I can see smoke from a fire in the distance and I continue through the forest, knowing I will come out on the side of the battlefield. Sometimes, the smell of battle is so overpowering, I cannot walk it. Other days,like today, the sense of peace washes over me and I continue on the path that will lead me there.
A small group of Civil War Reenactores were going through the morning routine, having set up camp on the battlefield, sleeping there the night before.I had not heard that this would be going on. It was over 90 degrees (32 C) and I am sure they were carrying around a lot of sweat with those wool uniforms.
I would like to take a moment to thank both Ace @ace108 for hosting the #BeautifulSunday tag and keeping great stats, and,
@c0ff33a for #sublimesunday, where any random post will do. I love my
@c0ffeea and he likes eclectic, a match made in heaven.
I liked the old timey feel of this photo in sepia. You cannot really tell what year it was taken, can you? Don't worry, I can never find a photo where sepia works. This was a no brainer. I should have added a little more noise to make it realistic.
Overlooking the battlefield, the cannon still stands.
Just like always, a flower. Always, to color my world. #alwaysaflower
All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.
The longing in my soul, for what, I know not. But, it is there tonight. Perhaps tomorrow, it will be not. Until then, this is The End.
The Naming of Cats
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn’t just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I’m as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
