Working on a big project: A video guide to producing/recording music with Linux!
So this is going to be another big one.
A sort of follow up to my video that showcases multi-media production with Linux.
In that video I just basically demonstrated the software/hardware I use to record/edit my video, design my graphics, and even produce my own music for DS-Tech Media. It was a general overview.
My next project is going to focus on JUST music production and recording. It's probably going to be a series of videos.
I'll do an introduction to the concepts and what will be covered, and then a tutorial on how to install the necessary software.
The idea is to show people who are new to Linux OR music production how to jump in.
We'll also touch on the various patched Linux kernels such as the low-latency and real-time kernels that are ideal for certain aspects of music production.
I also plan to do a review/tutorial of AVLinux, and perhaps Ubuntu-Studio, both are distros that are pre-configured for producing music.
From there I'll explain how to get your equipment working with JACK, how to get your MIDI instruments working, and how to get your MacOS or Windows plug-ins working as well.
And then I plan to look at the major Digital Audio Workstations(DAW)s available for Linux, of which there are many.
I've already began planning it out/scripting, collecting information/examples, creating my graphics and illustrations, and even setting up OBS scenes, I hope to start recording today.
It's going to be a pretty big tutorial, but I also think there should be some demand for this sort of thing.
My currently most viewed video on Youtube is one of my oldest, and that's about setting up a Nextcloud server on a Raspberry Pi. It seems like there's people who want these more complicated guides, so I want to try to cater to them a little bit.
Anyways, love to hear any thoughts, or even requests.
