Aw omg I'm so sorry. I've had cats my entire life, and losing them is so hard to deal with.
22 is a very long life for a cat though, and that's awesome. My grandmother's cat Toby lived to be 21 and people didn't believe me when I told them about him.

Merlin is a very cool name.

All cats are stubborn and jerks at times lol. Arlo actually has "episodes" where you can tell he is feral. He becomes aggressive and wants to bite my arm/shoulder randomly. He makes noises he doesn't usually make, and you can see in his eyes that he's different. Eventually he runs off, and then he comes back acting sorry.
My ex used to tell me about this, but I had never seen it for the first year of his life. She would say "I might have to get rid of him, he gets crazy." But it's not that big of a deal. It's maybe a couple minutes every so many weeks.
