Media tools on Linux is actually pretty good at this point, and it seems like funding isn't holding things back the way it does in more corporate shops.
A lot of developers seem to do it as a labor of love or necessity, but when they do good work people tend to contribute and there are organizations that provide funding to projects that get selected.

For open-source video editing Kdenlive is king, but I also use FLowblade quite often to edit. It's about 70/30. We've got Cinelerra GG, Shotcut, and Open-Shot. Plus Olive is a VERY promising newcomer that's making BIG moves. For their 2.0 release they're adding a built-in node-based video graphics compositor which is the same type as Natron. Natron is a dedicated node-graphics compositor, and it's also open-source.

DaVinci Resolve & Lightworks are both proprietary professional editors available on Linux.

For 2D/image graphics GIMP & Inkscape are excellent.
Darktable is a great Lightroom alternative, but there's also Raw Therappe.
OBS-Studio is amazing for recording/live-streaming, and it's pretty much the standard across MacOS, Windows, and Linux.

And for music Linux has a ton of DAWs, and plug-in support is actually really good. Not perfect, but really good.
