Wow that's so interesting. But I think your installed copy should still be working fine, and won't have the changes they made either.
And I'm always glad to see other people using open-source and Linux. As someone who was pretty tech-focused, and even studied network-admin long ago, I couldn't believe I waited until 2014 to try Linux. I started with Ubuntu as well, and I use it more than anything else. Especially for servers I'll only use Ubuntu because I'm most familiar with it.
But I also really like Arch-Linux. I've used Debian too, but it's just different enough from Ubuntu to be a hassle sometimes.
I still have Windows partitions on a couple computers in case I want to game, but I try to even do that on Linux mostly now.
