Does the US govt also have a role in this?
I ask because I've talked to other Venezuelans, and they have told me that there is an embargo against Venezuela by the US govt. Although I don't see how that would lead to shortages of food. Here in the US people are not even aware of it though, and it's the govt acting in the govt's interests and not of the the people of the US.
I also recall many months ago hearing of an attempted coup involving agents/special-forces from the US military. And there was that guy they wanted to install as the new leader, Juan Guaido I think? He was most likely a puppet to corporate interests, but I realize there are probably many people who would like to see Maduro gone.
In previous years leftist politicians in the US would often point to Venezuela as an example of socialism thriving, and I believe at the time it was.
Often authoritarian revolutionaries are able to produce good results in the short term because there is nothing to impede their sweeping changes.
But with time the cracks begin to appear.
I hope the change that's needed comes, and that the people will no longer suffer because of the greed of those running our governments.
You are brave to share truth when they try to hide it, and I wish you and your nation the best.
