I thank you for reading it. I never know if I'm going overboard when I write a long reply, but some things just can't be said in a single paragraph lol. I think that's why Twitter is literally destroying the fabric of our society.
Yeah I don't even know how to feel about it honestly.
On one hand I feel like the police are far too dangerous towards all citizens in general.
But I often see a large portion of white people who say things like "As a white person, I don't have to fear for my life when dealing with the police", and when they say that they make it seem as if police are racist/not dangerous towards other people.
It leaves a big part of the problem unaddressed.
And then I try to understand the thoughts of the police too. And I do realize that they are paranoid/afraid of citizens, and even have disdain for citizens in some cases.
With what's happening right now with BLM/Chauvn & the other situations happening now we're seeing police quitting across the country. We're also seeing them not respond to calls because they don't want to risk their job, freedom, etc. especially now in predominantly black neighborhoods because they feel like it's too risky if they have to use force.
And to top it all off crime is up something like %200 across the country since the death of George Floyd & the riots that followed.
I live just outside of Baltimore, and the past few years there have been 5 murders within 5 miles of my house and that's somewhat scary.
That's why I have a firearm, but God forbid I ever have to use it, I don't want to end up in jail for defending myself either. When violent crime is happening, police are never going to be able to prevent it.
